Viking Helmet

by VM Brasseur on September 22nd, 2007

Behold! I give you a Knitted Viking Helmet! Handmade for Marcus Camillo Henry Capua, born August 4th, 2007.

OK, so maybe it looks more like elf ears or something. Or maybe Yoda. I probably should have attached the horns differently (though I don’t think that would have helped). And, sure, it’s perhaps far too large for a newborn. But it’s a Viking Helmet. I mean, how cool is that? Marcus is going to be the baddest ass baby in his subdivision, I tell you. If anyone messes with him he’ll go all berserk and make with the raping and pillaging…right after his nap.

For the record, the pattern (and materials) come from Bella Knitting. The hat, as pictured, is modeled by a fine but small specimen of spaghetti squash.

Woo and hoo, let the pillaging begin!

    Right after his nap.

  2. So, uh, Sara? The hat? It’s kinda made out of wool. Shaughnn will have to handle it so you don’t break out in some sort of anti-wool allergic reaction. Sorry about that. It didn’t even occur to me that the wool might be a problem until after I was about halfway through with the hat.

I’ll survive. Wool only makes me itchy, nothing worse. I even accidentally bought a wool sweater last year and i make sure I wear a long sleeve shirt under it.

  4. Oh, in that case it’s no problem. It would be a shame for you not to be able to touch it since it’s really nice soft yarn.

The helmet is all boxed up, BTW. The way things have been going lately it probably won’t get into the mail until Saturday.
