Hmm…protein, perhaps?

I left the office early today so I could come home and work some more (easier to focus on some things when there aren’t people around). On my way home I stopped by Whole Foods and picked up some quick and easy food for dinner. I looked at it when I got home and decided I maybe…just maybe…my body is telling me that it needs more protein. What I got (from the steam table in a to-go container):

  • Chicken tikka masala
  • Chicken vindaloo
  • Dal (Indian beans)
  • Tofu and pea curry
  • A few pieces of curried cauliflower, just to see how it tastes

Yes, I looked at it when I got it home. Then I ate the chicken half of it without waiting for dinner. I couldn’t help it. It was sitting there, bursting with chickeny goodness. And I, it seems, needed protein.

  1. I looked at the food. And then later I looked at the receipt lying on the counter.

    It turns out that buying Indian food by the pound is not such a good idea. That little protein fix cost me $22.

    Um, whoops.

    My friend Sue’s daughter is a sports and health science major. She nagged me forever to eat more protein, because I reach for veggies, bread, cheese and coffee like a junkie reaches for the needle! You have to have protein to live and especially for working out so much.

    I dream of living near a Whole Foods/Trader Joe’s/ fresh market, where I could swing by every few days to grab freshness. I’m jealous!

  3. This particular Whole Foods is only a couple months old. It’s the palace of all Whole Foods. HUGE and gorgeous. It was intimidating the first time I walked in there.
