Meet the new logo

by VM Brasseur on February 12th, 2006

I’ve been thinking of changing the scenery around here for a while now. I’m not ready to commit to a whole new theme yet, but I’m OK with changing the header image.

Last weekend the weather enticed me to go for a long walk through town. While on my way I spotted this cat drawn into the cement of a sidewalk near here. Thankfully I had my camera handy so I snapped a quick shot of it.

Thanks to the magic of the Gimp, the anonymously drawn cat is the new logo for FirstStep.

Let me know if you have any opinion on the new logo. Maybe you were very attached to the old one. Maybe you think that this one looks like a total hack job (which, by the by, it is). More likely you have no opinion on the matter at all and the comments shall remain woefully silent.

Honestly I can’t even remember the old one.Bu this one I like.

  2. Am I missing something? Where do I look to see the new cat logo? Your site looks the same as always to me.

  3. Chrissy, you’ve been hit by the browser cache. Do a Ctrl-Refresh or, if that doesn’t do it, clear your cache and then refresh the blog window.

  4. FWIW, Chrissy, I just noticed that I was having the same issue here at work. A Ctrl-Refresh did the trick nicely.

    I like it.

  6. I like it too. Of course, I think everything is improved with the addition of a cat.

  7. aha! that’s better. the cat is cute, although your old logo with the ggb made me nostalgic for CA.

  8. I will say, though, that you should also change the color scheme to complement the sidewalk color better – something vibrant? (sorry for the multi-posts!)

  9. The color scheme suggestion is well-noted! I may do a bit of CSS poking later this week/weekend, should time allow.

  10. I like it, too. I like found art. And there’s the serendipity of the “first step” and sidewalk pairing.

  11. Yeah, that was an accidental thing that I didn’t notice until after I’d placed the title on the image. Serendipity indeed!

Good to see ya back, Univac.

  12. We are Pleased with the new logo.
