Wired Science

by VM Brasseur on November 8th, 2007

I felt the need to veg on the couch a little tonight. Normally that would involve watching a DVD. Unfortunately, the DVD player and other stuff from the entertainment center isn’t in a usable state right now. My laptop isn’t playing DVDs at the moment either. Harumph.

That’s when I remembered the internet. I’m not usually one for watching videos online but, heck, why not give it a try?

So I shuffled over to PBS to see what they have to offer. A ha! Wired Science! This is PBS’s first new show in many years. I’d heard about it but, not having TV, hadn’t seen it yet.

Thus far I’ve watched a segment on “bio-banking,” which is the storing of human tissues for research purposes. Doesn’t sound very interesting, does it? Au contraire! This was a great segment, full of people handling actual brains and discussing how they’re working to prevent Alzheimers and Parkinsons. It was very well done.

If you haven’t caught the show yet and you have any interest at all in all things scientific I suggest you head on over to www.pbs.org and check it out.
