Three and a half chapters into this book I set it aside, having admitted to myself that I was learning nothing and was having to force myself to continue reading. I have to assume that this book is a good fit for some people, but I am not one of them.
The irony of my finding a book about storytelling to be dull and uninspiring is not lost on me, but dull and uninspiring it was. I didn’t feel the book was living up to its promise to be a guide. It’s not written in a way that lends itself well to putting ideas into practice, at least not for me and how I learn.
Overall, I don’t feel I’ve wasted what time I did give the book, as it showed me that I could save a lot more time by not forcing myself to finish reading it.
