It’s a Nnedi Okorafor book. Of course I enjoyed it.

I tend to enjoy Afrofuturism stories in general. They always teach me something about other cultures here while also creating some of the most inventive sci-fi in modern times. I’m grateful publishers are releasing these works.

I’m also grateful to the new sci-fi/fantasy acquisitions guy at my local public library. It’s thanks to his dedication to bringing in diverse titles that I was able to read this book. Thanks, Robert! You’re doing great!

While I liked the story, I admit that I found the ending rather abrupt. The entire last few chapters, really. It was a good ending, I just would rather it hadn’t felt so rushed. It left open the possibility for a follow-up story, so I’m looking forward to that (hopefully) appearing some year soon.
