A new Okorafor book! YAY!

Oh, wait. It’s a novella. The first of three. So I have to wait for the rest of the story. BOO!

No slight intended against Okorafor. It makes a lot of sense for her to get stories out quickly. I’d rather have incomplete Africanfuturism tales than no tales at all, myself. And this does give me something to look forward to.

If you’ve ever read her other works, then you’ll settle into this one quickly. (if you haven’t…dang, you’re missing out) It has a familiar vibe and doesn’t so much resemble previous stories as rhymes with them. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic Africa and is a prequel to the award-winning Who Fears Death.

The book ended on a highly effective cliffhanger, which is gonna drive me batty for a bit. Also, with my memory I’ll need to re-read this one when the next installment comes out. What? I have to read more Okorafor? Oh, darn. /s
