Back in the saddle again

So, yes, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. Hell, for that matter it’s been a while since the damn blog was even up…

Those of you with a keen sense of the obvious have already figured out that neither of these things hold true anymore. You can thank the shiny new Linux server which I have sitting here beside me for that. That and the failed hard drive which brutally persuaded me it was time to upgrade my aged Dell. The new machine is a dapper little Shuttle that blows the doors right off the old one. Far more than double the power in less than half the space? Sign me up.

I do, by the way, apologize for the prolonged absence. I allowed things to get a bit out of control there for a little while. My fault entirely. Water under the bridge. Think nothing of it. Moving on.

Along with the triumphant return of FirstStep to the tubes comes a slick new paintjob. It’s simple yet effective. Most importantly it does just about everything that I want it to without requiring an abundance of mojo and voodoo and sysadmin fu. Still gotta get that Flickr widget working (see the blank spot in the footer? Yeah, that thing) but otherwise it’s exactly what The Doctor ordered.

Though I cannot promise—lest I be caught in a lie—my intention is to post here more often. We’ll see how long that little resolution can hold out against the mighty entropy of my life, won’t we? Hrm. Yes, indeed.

My sysadmin work is done for the evening so now, if you don’t mind, I have to keep an appointment with that Doctor I mentioned above. A girl simply must have her priorities.
