Chrome has become my primary web browser. It has this nice feature where it pays attention to the sites you visit and then later, as you type into the Location field, it’ll suggest sites from those you’ve visited frequently. I use this feature many times a day.
The other day, just for fun, I checked to see which sites are suggested when I type each letter of the alphabet. What follows is a snapshot of my current internet usage.
- A: Amazon
- B: My company’s beta site.
- C: Google Calendar
- D: My company’s issue-tracking system
- E: eMusic
- F: Facebook
- G: Google
- H: My company’s HR website
- I: My company’s web application
- J: Nothing!
- K: The Knitty Fish Hat pattern
- L: The login page for Salesforce
- M: My Squeezebox server
- N: Netflix
- O: Open Library
- P: PayPal
- Q: One of my company’s testing servers
- R: Ravelry
- S: Shop Goodwill{.broken_link}
- T: Twitter
- U: USAA
- V: My internal video server
- W: Wikipedia
- X: Nothing! (what!? no xkcd!? No, I normally see that on Google Reader.)
- Y: Yelp
- Z: My company’s project tracking system
It would be interesting to revisit this every few months to see how my usage changes. Perhaps I’ll open a new tab, type ‘c’ and add that reminder to my Google Calendar right now.
