I’ll be in DC in less than a week and have been creating a list of things which I need to pack. The list has been a work in progress for a short while and today I reviewed it to make sure that I’m on track for having everything I need.

Of the twenty items currently on the list seven are technology-/hardware-related and six have to do with knitting. One is food. One is reading material. The remaining few items are outerwear which I usually wouldn’t need at home (like gloves and a hat).

In all the time I’ve been compiling the list of things to pack I never once considered including little things like shirts and underwear but I’ll go out of my way to specify that I shouldn’t forget my 4GB SD card for my camera. Hmm…

Keep in mind that I don’t check luggage. I have one small carry-on backpack and my small Timbuk2 purse/bag and that’s it. There’s not a lot of room for extraneous stuff. Judging by the list I’ve generated, “extraneous stuff” is defined as “any clothes you’re not wearing when you leave home.” This amuses me to no end. I won’t list that I need to take a change of clothes but I will list which aged gouda I’d like to take with me on the plane and that I need to change my iPhone playlist. This, I think, is me in a nutshell. 🙂
