Tonight was the first time in…um…many moons that I was able to cook anything. I’ve been living off of take-out, leftover take-out and boxed frozen food from Trader Joe’s for a few weeks now.

Dinner was nothing special: spaghetti squash with a sauce of mild Italian sausage, tomatoes, garlic/onions and a bag of frozen spinach. Very pedestrian. Still…damn, it hit the spot. I sit here basking in a low-grade culinary glow. It’s the sort of glow which can only come from eating hearty home-cooked food and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Every time I pass the kitchen I find myself sniping pieces of leftover sausage from the pan.

No, it wasn’t haute cuisine. But it was sincere cuisine and it pushed all the right buttons at the right time.
