Mom Strohmeyer, this one’s for you! 🙂

The day began with me getting ten hours of sleep. Ten. Can you believe it? That’s just crazy. I must need the rest, I guess.

After picking up our latest shipment from Boccalone I headed off to the Ferry Building to pick up some beans from Rancho Gordo, to get a drink from Blue Bottle Coffee and to help Marc buy chocolates from Recchiuti for his girlfriend. Legume beans, coffee beans, cocoa beans. Nice little trifecta there, no?

Foodstuffs acquired, off we went to meet the Albertellis at The Cartoon Art Museum. I was the only one of us who had been there before but it had been years and the museum has moved to a new space in that time. There were three main exhibits today:

All three exhibits were very good, so much so that I’m not sure which of them I liked best. I’ve seen Lark Pien’s work elsewhere and also enjoyed it there, so I may start to keep closer tabs on her stuff.

Lunch was after that (burritos at Chipotle), then a wander through the city to Union Square. We went to Barney’s{.broken_link} and played the fun game of picking up hideous objects and asking, “What’s the price?” Invariably the number was much higher than you’d imagine, leading Marc to make the insightful statement that Barney’s is a place for people with too much money and not enough sense.

We wandered about a bit more then stopped for pints (Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar{.broken_link} for three of us and a scotch for Guy). After that we scored a boba tea for Guy and then went our separate ways, mostly headed toward our respective homes.

The whole day was spent just hanging out with my favorite people and was exactly what the doctor ordered. Guy, of course, brought his camera and snapped more photos than you’d think possible, so those of you who know where to look should expect to see those posted sometime soon.
