less than 1 minute read

I love me a jinn story. And a bot story. And, apparently, a jinn-bot story.

Even though it’s only one city on one planet in our massive galaxy, Basu has made Shantiport into a vivid world unto itself. The main characters—human and not—are real people with whom the reader can relate. The story is complex but clear. I really enjoyed my time reading it.

What confuses me about this book is how long it took me to read it. Ten days? That’s 2-3 times longer than I expected it to take. It’s not like the writing was difficult or the plot convoluted or anything. The story flows well and is very engaging. Maybe the printing is smaller so there are many more words on a page? I dunno. And it’s not worth thinking about now, since I’ve finished it.
